Case study: 3 different soles are shown in the footwear below.

1. Insole - An insole is removable. It is shaped to achieve a maximum comfort to a foot. For the case study a special designed insole is used. Triple shock absorption is based on "Air Deck " insole, where the air cushion compresses gradually, yielding in the area of the greatest load and levelling out the pressure.

5. Midsole - A midsole supports the position of the foot and adds cushioning. The lightening cap in the centre of the midsole orients the cushioning along the centre line of the sole and also saves weight. Various cushioning at the heel /sear area are important. The sport shoe trade offers wide range of sole with special designed midsoles.

6. Outsole - A good grip is needed in running. Therefore a last layer of the sole is specially designed. A good tread pattern sweeps away lubricant leaving dry contact under cleats. The material of cleats are important to maximize the wear. An important areas are front of the sole and seat.

7. In a waist area a harder material can be use to support the rigidity of the waist in action.
